Hamburg Music International Export Program
The program Hamburg Music International supports the internationalisation of Hamburg's music business. It is designed to support import and export projects of small and medium-sized music companies with the goal of opening up international markets. The development of business contacts is key for sustainably establishing international economic relations for Hamburg's music industry and its artists.
Who is funded?
The program is directed at small and medium-sized music industry companies from Hamburg (=companies with up to 249 employees and up to €50 million in sales/year or up to €43 million in total assets/year). Double funding is expressly excluded.
What is funded?
Hamburg Music International provides funding for a maximum of 70% of the total costs of the project. The maximum grant awarded is 1,500 euros (net). Funding is provided in particular for travel expenses, participation fees at trade fairs, conferences and market development programs as well as communication costs (especially marketing measures) in the target country, production costs and costs for an event implementation with the aim of market development. A special focus is placed on less established, not regularly attended events and markets. Excluded from funding are, in particular, sound carrier productions, hospitality costs, artist fees and artist subsidies.

This year’s application period starts immediately and ends on November 13, 2026. Applications must be submitted no later than six weeks before the start of the project period. The funding period ends on November 29, 2026.

The "Hamburg Music International" program comprises a series of infrastructure-building measures for a sustainable, internationally active Hamburg music industry. Hamburg Music International is funded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Ministry of Culture and Media.
