Hamburg Music Business Support
Please note: The application deadline for the current funding round ended on 15.09.2022.
With the "Hamburg Music Business Support," Hamburg Music, together with the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media, has developed a comprehensive program to support Hamburg music companies. The aim is to help Hamburg music companies and self-employed individuals in the music industry to cope with the Corona crisis and enable music industry projects. The Ministry of Culture and Media has made two million euros available from the Corona Aid Package for Culture for this funding.
What is funded?
Projects with a cultural reference that enable Hamburg music companies to emerge from the covid crisis with adapted or new business are funded. These can include:
- Replanning of canceled music events
- Publications or campaigns
- Securing ongoing music projects
- Measures to strengthen the resilience of music businesses in crises, for example, for foreseeable, corona-related revenue shortfalls in the future
Up to 90 percent of the costs of such projects can be covered. The funding amounts range from a maximum of 10,000 euros for self-employed individuals to a maximum of 300,000 euros for larger music companies.
Detailed information can be found in the document "Annex to Funding Guideline 3" and in our FAQ document.
Who is funded?
Eligible applicants are non-state cultural enterprises in the Hamburg music industry, i.e., small and medium-sized Hamburg music companies, as well as self-employed individuals primarily working in the music industry who have found themselves in an existentially threatening economic situation due to the Corona crisis. Detailed information (including which companies are considered part of the music industry) can be found in the document "Anlage zur Förderrichtlinie 3."
How does the application process work?
The completed application documents (see "Downloads") must be sent by email to Hamburg Music (via coronahilfe@musikwirtschaft.org). After a preliminary check (including possible queries to the applicants), the applications are forwarded to the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media for final processing.
There is no entitlement to funding, even if all criteria are met. Instead, the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media decides based on their professional assessment regarding the cultural eligibility for funding, their due discretion, and within the available budget. The time of receipt of the complete application documents at coronahilfe@musikwirtschaft.org is decisive, as far as the available funds are oversubscribed due to high demand and not all eligible applications can be considered. The application deadline ended on 15.09.2022.
