Career Change Program
Hamburg Music's career change program started its next round in March 2025! The aim of the program is to provide talented people who want to switch to the music industry with in-depth industry knowledge and support them in building a network. The training program offers basic knowledge of the German and Hamburg music industry as well as exciting insights into the key sectors of recorded music, music publishing and live entertainment.
On 19, 26 and 27 March 2025, the participants took part in a specially designed program on site in Hamburg, which presented various professional fields and areas of activity and provided a comprehensive understanding of the music industry. A special highlight was the speed dating between career changers and companies in Hamburg's music industry on March 27. Here, the skills of the participants were specifically matched with suitable positions and job offers in order to create ideal connections.
The program is aimed at career changers who want to establish themselves in labels, distributors, music publishers, venues or other sub-sectors of the industry. The program is aimed at people with a degree in a field outside the industry and at least two years of professional experience, but who have not yet gained any basic professional experience in the music industry. The lateral entry program was fully subsidized. Hamburg Music selected up to 15 participants from all applications received.
The career change program is part of Hamburg Music's specialist program, which is funded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Ministry of Culture and Media. It is also being tested as a pilot project as part of the “Music Industry Resilience Acceleration Program” (MI-RAP). MI-RAP is funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Program and co-financed by the European Union.
